More News On The War Between Murle and Lou Nuer (Sudan Tribune)

    By James Gatdet Dak

March 10, 2009 (JUBA) – Authorities of Jonglei State on Tuesday reported deadly clashes between the Lou-Nuer clan and Murle tribe in the state.

Jonglei state governor, Kuol Manyang Juuk briefed the President of the Government of Southern Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit on Tuesday in Juba on the deadly incidence involving the two communities.

In a press statement, Manyang said a group of armed Lou-Nuer civilians organized a retaliatory attack on the Murle community, prompting him to come to Juba requesting for urgent intervention by the Government of Southern Sudan to arrest the situation.

He said the attack by the Lou-Nuer clan against the Murle tribe was in retaliation to previous attacks against the community by the heavily armed Murle community since January this year.

Governor Manyang said the fighting resulted to Lou-Nuer community capturing the Murle town of Kwangala - the second largest Murle community’s administrative headquarters after Pibor town.

The fighting was still continuing into other Murle areas.

Last month Lou-Nuer community leaders blamed the security forces in the state for failing to protect its citizens from the Murle attacks which left about 30 people dead and warned that the community would be left with no option but to defend itself against such attacks.

Governor Manyang said he discussed with President Salva Kiir the need to urgently deploy SPLA forces to stop the escalating fighting.

No casualties were yet reported as a result of the fighting.

Yeah, that's what they have (Murle) been yearning for. Let's them face it until they themselves apologize to Lou Borchaar!

Thanks, Luke for bringing this article.

    Hi, Mr Doang and Gluke

I don't have any objection on this move made by Lou Nuer against our foe(s).
Jonglei state governor, Kuol Manyang Juuk has called for an instantaneous deployment of SPLA forces not as his sympathy for his state’s citizens killing each other, but to make stereotype that Lou Nuer are war lovers in the sight of the GoSS. According to my inference on recent attack launched by Duke’s citizens that lost the lives of wildlife officers of Nyirol County and Murle’s previous attacks against Lou Nuer of Uror and Akobo Counties, Mr Kuol Manyang Juuk was in his silent frame of mind. I really disbelief his urgent call for deployment as to solve the problem between Murle and Lou Nuer. How many attacks have been launched against Lou Nuer while he didn’t take it to be an urgent situation?

You know, when I take a broad survey of this Jonglei State or (Jungle State because that is what it means) compatriots's activities, they are making the CPA fragile. If legitimate solution is not taken by GoSS, peace in southern Sudan will be out of control soon,my friends. Otherwise, wish them good luck.

Anyway, let merciless Murle people face the consequences of their violent behaviors. I wouldn’t have any objection on Lou Nuer issuing the fight against Murle even if I were one among Lou Nuer citizens who have gone to Murle’s areas.

Let’s keep updating ourselves with the outcomes of the fight. It looks like no casualties being reported yet. We have to pray God to escort Lou Nuer and have them come back to their areas with no casualties in the end because they are just doing self-defense. Murle people deserve the worst result since they have started the assault.

    Be in peace
